What I do....

I create one-of-a-kind tables from ethically sourced British wood — each slab rich in history, air-dried for years, and transformed by hand into a timeless showpiece built to last for generations.

Mary Shelley's Collection

A strictly limited collection of only five handcrafted tables. Some trees become part of the landscape, but few become part of history.Lumen Wild Tables is proud to present a strictly limited collection of only five handcrafted tables, created from an extraordinary oak tree that stood on the Mary Shelley estate during the early nineteenth century. Rich in character, history and natural beauty, this remarkable tree offers an opportunity to own a truly unique piece of British heritage.
Each slab has developed its own distinctive personality over more than two centuries. Magnificent burl figure flows through the timber, creating intricate grain patterns that cannot be replicated. Beneath the bark, beautifully textured sapwood reveals formations reminiscent of dragon scales, while natural voids and hollows provide dramatic features that will be carefully stabilised and enhanced with premium resin, celebrating rather than concealing the tree's remarkable history.
Every table is individually designed around the timber itself. The live edge will be preserved, allowing the natural form of the tree to define the finished piece. No two tables will ever be the same.
Each commission is handcrafted from start to finish using traditional techniques, with every stage completed by hand—from preparing and stabilising the slab through to resin work, shaping, sanding and finishing. The result is not simply a dining table, but a future heirloom designed to be admired for generations.
The provenance of this exceptional timber is supported by written statements from the registered timber merchant and the company responsible for felling the tree, documenting its origin from the Mary Shelley estate. This documentation will accompany each completed commission, preserving the story behind these extraordinary pieces.
Only five tables will ever be created from this historic oak.
Each will be individually handcrafted, uniquely numbered and accompanied by documented provenance.
Once these five commissions have been completed, this collection will never be repeated.
If you would like to reserve one of these exceptional pieces or discuss commissioning your own table, I would be delighted to hear from you.

Why british ethically sourced wood?

Every table I create begins with the wood itself — and I believe that where it comes from matters. I use only British wood, carefully sourced from responsible, ethical suppliers who share my commitment to sustainability and provenance.
British wood offers exceptional beauty, character, and history, with grains and tones that can’t be replicated elsewhere. Each slab tells its own story, often decades or even centuries in the making. By choosing local, ethically harvested timber, I ensure that every piece is environmentally responsible, supports local forestry, and preserves the legacy of these magnificent trees.
This approach allows me to offer more than just furniture — it creates heirlooms with a story, rooted in the landscapes of Britain, and built to last for generations.
